TomTom HD Traffic on the IOS version

Already in the TomTom latest generation HD Traffic function provides the driver with detailed information on his travel time (duration, incident reports, delay, arrival time) and offers alternative routes. It is available since late 2010 in version 1.5 of the application iOS.

The data come from both third party services, history of navigation, but also and especially mobile phones of drivers. "These anonymous data allow TomTom to know the exact location, direction and speed of mobile users traversing the road network," explains the company on its front page dedicated to HD Traffic.

Everything is processed on servers TomTom and updated every 2 minutes. Users can also activate, since April 2011, the option Radar mobile application for a subscription of 4.99 euros per month or 30 euros per year.

At a press conference held yesterday in the U.S., TomTom has confirmed that an Android version of its application was being developed. But no date was given for its release.
